MODULE 1: Leadership Models will outline the mind set shift needed to go from "doing" to "managing"; review various mental models for effective leadership; consider what is the supervisor's job; consider issues of power, empowerment; delegation; and outline methods of employee motivation, reward and recognition.
MODULE 2: Leadership Skills will outline the methods of Systems Thinking and Critical Thinking. Also, it will focus on the concepts and skills of "Situational Leadership" perhaps the single most useful model for selecting the right management style for a given person in a given situation.
MODULE 3: Performance Support & Appraisal Process will outline how to set performance expectations, provide coaching, and give effective performance feedback to improve employee performance.
MODULE 4: Managing Performance Problems will outline a process for confronting performance problems and practice the skills required to do it effectively, including the formal performance counseling process.
MODULE 5: Team Skills will set out a model for team development including managing the stages of team development, making decisions, setting productive norms, and using processes to increase team effectiveness.
MODULE 6: Managing Multi-Cultural Teams Effectively will raise awareness of the skills needed to become "cross-culturally competent" when managing multi-cultural teams to obtain the maximum benefits while avoiding the potential problems.
MODULE 7: Conflict Utilization will outline ways to channel conflict productively, set norms that avoid unproductive conflict (e.g. "working pinches" and "triangle busting") and how to conduct conflict resolution sessions.
MODULE 8: Managing Meetings will use a meeting simulation to learn the facilitation skills needed to ensure effective work gets done in meetings.
MODULE 9: Managing Change will outline the dynamics of change and set out the skills needed to orchestrate the effective implementation of major disruptive change.
